Description

The Dunes City Council is comprised of a seven person non-compensated board consisting of a mayor and six councilors. The Mayor is elected for a 2-yr term and councilors are elected on a rotating basis for 4-yr terms. The mayor votes only in the event of a tie. Appointments for non-expired term vacancies are made by the Council. Each councilor also chairs a committee made up of Dunes City residents and/or oversees a particular area of city interest. City Council meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm at Dunes City Hall.

Application Guidelines
To file for this position follow these three steps. 1) Contact the Dunes City Hall and ask to be to speak with the city elections official so that you may verify that your address qualifies for the position, and that you meet any other requirements (like living in the district for a certain period of time). If the city elections officer is unavailable, the city manager or someone in that office may be able to assist you. 2) Arrange to obtain the filing documents from the appropriate city office, and double check with them filing paperwork submission dates. It is understood that first time or beginning candidates may need someone to review the paperwork with them, so it is useful to stop by the office in person during normal business hours, or arrange a time that you can speak with someone while picking up the filing papers. 3) Submit the filing papers and any other necessary documents to the city elections office during the required timeframe.
